We were called out to cover this eviction of an Irish traveller community for human rights purposes. We were not expecting what was about to happen-they were'nt expecting the cameras.
Things are changing for travellers- last year the 106 Circular was introduced by the EEC through Strasbourg. This Circular recognises Roma, Irish Travellers and New Age Travellers as Ethnic minorities. Giving the nomadic Gypsy communities Rights for the first time. This is a recommended document of needs.
